On Monday 7th March 2022, The Horse & Jockey Ravensden was acquired by Local Gastros LTD on a 15 year lease. This is the first acquisition by the company and brings together three experienced individuals with hospitality at their core.
The Horse and Jockey is a beautiful country pub nestled in the village of Ravensden just 4 miles from Bedford town centre with a charming bar, spacious restaurant, car park for 30 cars and a beautiful garden overlooking beautiful Bedfordshire farmland. The Horse & Jockey will maintain its wonderful traditions of Spanish influenced foods with a strong focus on local produce and fresh fish as well as a friendly, unfussy service style for which it has become renowned.
The pub will be operated by Rhys, Tamara and Aaron. Between them, they are hospitality veterans with a wide range of backgrounds. Hailing from Hertfordshire, Rhys cut his teeth as a chef at Coq d’Argent and Tewin Bury farm hotel as well as working in several fresh food pubs through London including the Gatehouse in Highgate North London which was voted 2nd best roast in London by GQ magazine during his time there. Tamara spent 4 years working in wedding, events and restaurant management at The Prince Albert in Camden Town and the Owl and Hitchhiker in Holloway Road while Aaron currently operates two other pubs, The Albert Inn in Hitchin and The Golden Lion in Camden Town.
The trio have set out with a desire to put the customer firmly at the centre of the business and to lovingly operate the Horse & Jockey to be one of Bedford’s top destination pubs.
The pub will serve a range of craft beers, locally sourced real ales, a thoughtful wine list, a selection of over 20 varieties of gin and of course, freshly made dishes which will have a fusion of modern British, classic French and Spanish influences to create a truly modern European menu.
